@pfun41 hey pfun~in short ~ universal motors are SERIES wound with NO permanent magnet ~ therefor, as voltage increases in BOTH the armeture and the field coil, the result is an increase in current. (more power,more current draw) universal motors do not follow the simple ohms law of as voltage increases, current decreases… this subject is extremely lengthy and my suggestion to you is to type a search ~ LAB12: universal motor.theory ~ or ~? wikipedia “electric motor”
